A Passion for Local Brews

Kemmons Wilson Insurance Group Account Executive Rod Selmon has joined with DeVonte Payton and Jermaine Conley to form the Memphis Brew Collective. Their mission? To explore and educate others on the beauty of craft beer.

KWIG Supports the Memphis Brew Collective“DeVonte and I were enjoying a beer and discussing how there are so many people in Memphis who are not aware of how good the beer is here locally,” Rod said. “It wasn’t too long before Jermaine Conley, the bartender where we were, overheard our conversation and joined in.”

And from a passion for local brews, the Memphis Brew Collective was born to create, educate and inspire all things beer. The Memphis Brew Collective hosted their first event back in October of 2021 at Wiseacre Brewing’s downtown location. Wiseacre’s Tiny Bomb, an American pilsner, was the signature beer for the event.

The event featured 6 different types of craft beer, ranging from an ale to a coffee stout, paired with aromatics (a scented flavor profile) for attendees to try before they tasted the beer. While attendees tasted each beer, a certified cicerone described each beer and explained what they should be tasting. All in all, the event was a huge success!

“We keep getting asked about merchandise and when our next event will be,” Rod said. “Stay tuned!”

While they are still in the beginning stages, the Memphis Brew Collective is excited to host their next event and continue to educate, inspire and hydrate fellow Memphians. Be sure to follow the Memphis Brew Collective on Instagram (@memphisbrewcollective) to stay in the know about the next event.
